The Capsicum Chinense Spieces has the highest number of varieties with only Capsicum Annuum having just as many varieties with hundreds of very hot and Superhot varieties. The hottest peppers in the world are Capsicum Chinenses with SHU from 100,000-2,200,000. There are only a handful of sweet or low to no heat varieties. But they are all great varieties with the excellent flavour and are must try varieties. Aji Dulce Red and Yellow and Trinidad Perfume are some of the best low to no heat varieties to start with.

This subspecies can take the longest to mature. With 120 days being the average with very few exceptions that can take only 100 days to ripen. For the most part, you can count on 120 days from transplant and you can also expect to start harvesting green pods or whatever color your varieties starting color is so keep your eye out at around 70-90 Days in you will see pods that you can harvest or Possibly should to help the plants grow more before they set flowers and pods. It’s always best to prune the main stem very early and to keep flowers pruned off until plants are bigger. If your plants are late you can Successfully prune up until the 10th of July and will still have time to ripen.
