This is an unknown ghost variant that has great ghost flavor and heat. Pods are very hot, hotter than other ghosts. so we think it’s a natural cross with a much hotter superhot variety. Pods have great aroma with a slight oil inside with medium walls. Plants grow very good almost fast with very high yields. Pods shape is what sets this apart from other red ghosts. Similar to our APS red ghost just with slightly smaller pods. It’s hard to say if it stable but we will find out this season if it holds true. So there could be slight differences in the seeds

APS JUST A RED GHOST - The Intense Surprise

**Basic Info**

Origin: Atlantic Pepper Seeds (APS) - unknown variant

Heat: Super-Hot (1,000,000+ SHU)

Type: Unique red ghost pepper variant

**Story**

The APS Just A Red Ghost is a fascinating mystery in the world of superhot peppers - an unknown ghost variant that defies easy classification. Described as having 'great ghost flavor and heat,' this variety appears to be a natural cross between a classic red ghost pepper and a much hotter superhot, resulting in pods that are notably hotter than standard ghost peppers.

What sets this variety apart is its unique pod shape, which differs from the typical APS red ghost. The pods are slightly smaller but carry an intense aroma and a slight oil content that hints at their extreme heat potential. The medium walls provide substantial flesh while concentrating the capsaicin, making each pod a potent weapon in the heat enthusiast's arsenal.

The plants grow exceptionally well, almost fast, with very high yields - a trait that makes this variety particularly valuable for serious growers. However, the APS team notes that stability is still being determined, meaning there could be slight variations in the seeds regarding pod size, shape, or exact heat level. This uncertainty adds an element of discovery to growing this variety, as each harvest might reveal new characteristics.

In culinary applications, the Just A Red Ghost requires extreme caution. With heat levels exceeding 1,000,000 SHU, a single pod can transform an entire batch of hot sauce or seasoning. The flavor profile carries the classic ghost pepper notes - fruity, slightly sweet, with a slow-building, all-encompassing heat that lingers for minutes. The 'slight oil inside' suggests a concentrated capsaicin content that enhances both heat and flavor complexity.

For gardeners, this variety offers the thrill of growing a potentially record-breaking superhot with the bonus of high productivity. The unique pod shape and intense aroma make it a conversation piece in any pepper garden. However, experienced handling is essential - gloves and eye protection are non-negotiable when harvesting or processing.
