This newer chocolate Rocoto is one of three new chocolate varieties. This one has classic pod shape, pods start out green ripen to lite chocolate then to dark chocolate. Plants great fast with very high yields under good conditions. Rocoto peppers grow well in cooler conditions and can get very large in the first season. We like to put them in hanging baskets, as plants will have very long branch’s similar to C .Baccatuim.  This will save heavy pruning, as unpruned plant branch’s will reach over five feet and will need to be supported. Rocoto plants also need more water then other species and should be put in larger pots to save time or put on water timer as one plant could need 1-2 gallons of water on hot sunny days. Pods are very juicy with thick walls and great flavor care should be taken when cutting not to get juice in your eyes or on your face. Pods are also hard to get off the plants and should be cut off, not pulled as this can harm the plant branch’s
